Children at Ludworth Primary School's after school  gardening club, in Marple Bridge, are hoping for a bumper harvest this year as they submit a big bid for funds for a new greenhouse in the 2015 Aviva Community Fund Competition, but they desperately need your votes to make their dream come true.

The club has 60 active members who love to get their hands dirty by growing their own fruit and vegetables. These are used in the school kitchens for lunch, donated as harvest gifts to the local community  and as a raffle prize in Marple's popular annual Food Festival.

The bid of £1000 will go towards a new greenhouse, trees for a new school orchard and gardening equipment.

"The one thing we are short of and something which would greatly benefit our club is a good sturdy greenhouse. This would enable us to grow more of our own plants earlier.... We would also be able to carry on working when the weather is not so favourable, rather than having to retreat into the classroom," commented Mr. Martin Stamper, who helps run the club.
